Married!

Seven months ago, on June 8, I got married! The day was by far the best day of our life. People were right though… it goes by fast! There were so many times throughout that day that I wanted to hit a pause button because I didn’t want it to end. This day is what I had worked so hard planning for a little more than a year! The biggest advice I can give to anyone getting married is to just remember to step back at times and look around you. Soak it all in because it’s a day you will remember forever!

To have everyone we love all in one room, under one roof was beyond amazing and something we will cherish for our whole lifetime! Thank you to all of our family and friends for making our day more than perfect!

Gratitude

A good friend of mine came across an idea on a blog she read and thought it might be something for some of our girlfriends to do together. The idea? We email each other with five things we’re grateful for everyday, as an exercise to get us into a more positive head space.

I believe for most people, it’s very easy to think negatively, think the worst, say things such as, “why does this always happen to me?”, or believe that things aren’t fair when it comes to a job, a relationship or different life occurrences. I admit, I’m guilty of thinking and saying those things at times – it’s hard not to.

Now, I consider myself a pretty happy person. I can’t speak for everyone, but I think by doing a gratitude list for myself everyday will start to open the doors for more positive things to happen in my life. I’m starting today and looking forward to seeing how doing this everyday will change my outlook on life.

In the spirit of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, it’s a good reminder for me of how much in my life is good, great, wonderful – even (especially) on days when everything seems to be going wrong. The five things I’m grateful for  today are my family (Mom, Dad, Brian, Crystal), my closest and dearest friends (you know who you are , but to list a few: Caryn, Meredith, Abbey, Helen, Stephanie , Laura and Alyssa), my job, the roof over my head  and smiling everyday. 🙂

What are you happy and grateful for??

Junior League of Denver

Ok… I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything, so I wanted to share with everybody that I’ve recently joined the Junior League of Denver! I’m so excited to be a part of this amazing organization; and over the years, I’ve had many friends here in Colorado and even in California talk about how great and fulfilling it is.

For those of you who don’t know what it is, here’s a little description:

The Junior League of Denver, celebrating 90 years of service, is a volunteer organization of women working to promote the health and education of women and children in the Metro area.  The JLD provides programs, partners with other non-profit organizations, and supports legislation that help women and children reach their full potential by ensuring they have access to education, health care, a safe environment, and career training. (Source: www.jld.org)

In the short time of being a member, I’ve already met some incredible women and am really looking forward to giving back to the community. I will be participating in my first JLD event this Sunday serving as a volunteer at the Pumpkin Festival at the Chatfield Denver Botanic Gardens greeting people and selling tickets for the Pumpkin Patch. So fun! Stay tuned for more JLD events I participate in!
